We at Eastern Railway Inter College Jamalpur believe that strong foundations last a whole lifetime! Hence we equip our primary learners to become fundamentally strong in their conceptual understanding so that this strong base can support them throughout their lives.
We tap into all the areas of intelligence as we understand that each child is unique and has different core strengths. Everything, from our methodology of teaching to our style of assessments, caters to the multiple intelligences present in the children, giving them an opportunity to become confident in their expression and communication.

This in turn enables us to design an assessment programme which moves away from the didactic, and deals with tapping multiple skills of each child, giving each one an opportunity to express individually, work collaboratively and achieve maximum learning while getting assessed.

Assessment at Eastern Railway Inter College Jamalpur is set within a multipurpose and flexible framework, it is a combination of formative and summative assessment.
We provide the students, an opportunity to be assessed holistically. Hence, we implement multiple modes of assessments strategies to consider the overall achievements of the child.
- We strives to provide a harmonious, secure and caring environment in which the emotional, social, intellectual, physical and moral well being of the pupils are identified and nurtured.
- The foundation years are thoughtfully put together as ERIC allows open-mindedness – freedom of expression both for students and teachers.
- A well paced and balanced curriculum comprises of Language Arts (reading, writing, listening, speaking), Math, Science, and Social Studies as the core subjects. The teaching approach is theme based and well integrated.
- A vast scope for “hands on” activities is provided. The focus is mainly on acquiring skills at this stage.
- The parent, student and teacher link is our distinctive feature. There is excellent communication between the parents and teachers. They make a positive and progressive contribution to enhance the learning process. They come in as visitors to share their professional skills and knowledge.
- Field trips and excursions provide opportunities for learning and giving a larger exposure to real life situations.
- The curriculum, stage 1, is introduced in the Upper Nursery. The curriculum, both theory and practical, is adapted to each child’s level and skill. Besides the core subject of English, Science and Math, other subjects included P.E, Music, Drama, Art and Craft.
Along with academics, character building plays an equally important role in our school. Integrating Living values into the teaching system, and emphasizing the practice of these values in daily interactions is the ethos of our school.
